A beautifully written graphic novel that was turned into a movie and winner of a Cannes Film Festival Jury Award. It is a memoir that centers on Marjane who grew up during a revolutionary Iran. It intertwines the nuances of 'growing up' along with decisions/choices that is made for her or she makes that is in direct response to the Islamic Revolution. Great for learning about the 'other' we see in Muslim people/history. Intertwining an universal sentiment, adolescence, with the Islamic Revolution is a great headway for all to dive into a world wholly different than their own. All libraries carry this volume!
